A Break Down of Infertility Acronyms

I remember when we began our journey with infertility in 2018, I was SO overwhelmed. And rightfully so, infertility and treatments are A LOT. 
Then, as I began to find blogs or infertility based Instagram accounts, I just kept seeing all of these acronyms pop up and I had NO idea what they meant.
Five years into this crazy journey and I *finally* feel like I have a pretty good understanding of what a majority of the acronyms mean, but there are still plenty of times, even now, when I find one that I don't know and go back to google for the answer.
Anyhow, I knew I wasn’t the only one that struggled with this, so here’s a list of infertility acronyms and their meanings. Remember, these aren't ALL of them, but they're a good collection of the ones that frequently pop up.

2ww: 2 week wait from procedure to test day.
AF: Aunt Flo (your period)
BFN: Big Fat Negative
BFP: Big Fat Positive
CD: Cycle Day (followed by a number)
DPT: Days Post Transfer
DP3/5DT: Days Post 3 or 5 Day Transfer
EPT: Early Pregnancy Test
ET: Embryo Transfer
FET: Frozen Embryo Transfer (your embryo was frozen after fertilization. Fresh transfer does not involve freezing.)
HCG: Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (pregnancy hormone)
HSG: Hysterosalpingogram (shooting dye through your tubes)
ICSI: Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (they insert the sperm in the egg during IVF.)
IUI: Intrauterine Insemination
IVF: In Vitro Fertilization 
MC: Miscarriage
NP: Nurse Practitioner 
OB: Obstetrician 
PG: Pregnant
PIO: Progesterone in Oil
POAS: Pee On A Stick
PPD: Post-Partum Depression 
STIMS: Stimulation Meds
TTC: Trying to Conceive

Like I said, these aren't ALL of them, but it's a good starting place for you to be able to understand what people are talking about. I know this can all seem really overwhelming at times, but remember to take it a day at a time. You can do this!
